About
With over 16 years of experience in healthcare and emergency services,
Garrett Hagood is a dedicated professional committed to enhancing
the safety, resilience, and continuity of healthcare organizations and
communities. As the Chief Information Security Officer and Director of
Special Initiatives at the Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council
(CBRAC), Garrett leads IT systems, cybersecurity, and threat intelligence
operations for the Hospital Preparedness Program, which spans 19
counties in South Texas. He also plays a key role in the Emergency
Medical Task Force 11, focusing on disaster training, preparedness, and
response for the healthcare system.
Garrett’s career began at 18 when he earned his EMT certification,
followed by becoming a certified Paramedic. Driven by a deep desire
to help others, he gained extensive experience in clinical and leadership
roles across Texas. This included managing the Hospital Preparedness
Program for Healthcare Coalition-V and serving as EMS Administrator at
Allegiance Mobile Health, where he oversaw clinical and administrative
programs. Prior to Allegiance Mobile Health’s acquisition of Gemini
Ambulance Service, he worked for Gemini Ambulance Service where he
was the Critical Care Director and Chief Flight Paramedic for ground
and international air ambulance service lines respectively. In 2016, he
shifted his focus to Emergency Management and Healthcare
Preparedness, finding new ways to make an impact through expertise in
emergency medical services, critical care transport, cybersecurity, and
intelligence analysis.
At CBRAC, Garrett’s responsibilities go beyond security and policy
development. He actively shares critical threat intelligence and best
practices with healthcare organizations across the region. On a national
level, he has worked closely with Healthcare Sector Coordinating
Council’s Joint Cybersecurity Working Group for 7 years. He also serves
as Chair of the Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center’s Incident
Response Working Group and acts as a Liaison Officer for multiple fusion
centers, building relationships and strengthening coordination between
traditional intelligence services and the healthcare sector.
Garrett’s journey reflects an unwavering dedication to protecting and
advancing healthcare delivery, disaster preparedness, and emergency
management. His contributions have made him an asset to CBRAC and
the broader healthcare community.
